We have small black bugs and some worms in the cabinet where the cereal/rice/meal/ect are stored. I know that I should empty everything, should I spray?

you do not have to spray but make sure you get rid of all that food. you may want to decide to keep your cereal, rice etc in tight containers in the refrigerator instead of the cabinets. sometimes if it is warm climate or in the summer time these bugs like to get in rice and cereal.

If you're sure they're actually worms, spraying won't help much. The things you are describing wouldn't normally live far from the food source.

You should get an exterminator, take the valuables and spend the day or two with friends / family. You probably can't get to where the pests are. And second of all, you're not going to want to eat out of that cabinet for a while.

I had a very similar problem because I had birds. The seed contains eggs that hatch. All I did was to throw out the stuff that had them in it, clean the cupboards thoroughly, and replaced all the stuff with new. Just keep an eye out! If you see one, recheck, and start again. Also, I use bay leaves. They keep almost everything that crawls out of stuff... flour, cereal. The nice part is that they (bay leaves)are large enough for you to see and not mix into what you're doing. I get them at Big Lots for $.50.

Empty everything, use a strong disinfectant in the cabinet, and store something other than food in there for about a year.

no, don't spray if you intend to store food there again later. line shelves with treated shelf paper that is safe to store food on, then you should store all food in bug proof containes.
