I've always wondered if anyone ever found Mastodon (mammoth) meat thats been frozen and was still good enough to eat? If so, what does it taste like?

Although urban legends persist that scientists have eaten mammoth meat, in fact most of the mammoth remains that have been thawed generally have a rather foul odour.

One Russian expedition dared several of its members to try some, but none of them were on Fear Factor, and declined. Apparently the dogs enjoyed the meat, however, and ate all they were given.

I imagine that fresh mammoth meat would taste pretty much exactly like elephant (which I've never tried), but meat freezer-burned for 10,000 years probably is rather unpalatable.

It frequently tastes like it freezer burned elephant. If you do find mastadon meat....since the local butcher does not usually carry this delicacy, the meat should be taken from the body without delay; as, if left for a few hours, it partakes of the peculiar smell of an elephant, which no amount of boiling will overcome.
The meat is rather tough and requires lengthy, slow cooking and a lot of spices in order to be palatable.

It tastes like chicken. ( Har. ) Probably no different than elephant meat, which is probably not too far from horsemeat.

How would anyone know that...they are estinct and no one (who found one) would not eat it as it is prehistoric and it is for research. But i bet if someone did eat one it would taste like steak or chicken as it is a mammel and cut like one.
