you may have a bad mechanism in the shift mechanism. it will require a locksmith to replace it. it may be getting ready to break inside. or it may just need to be lubed. to lube it, you have to remove the steering wheel so you still need a locksmith. cal one and ask what the cause may be if the mechanic you use doesn't know.

i wager. no longer a bishi guy, yet, that is my innovations, if the shifter become lose and a transverse mount become marginal. that would want to do what you describe. yet that does no longer be ordinary of a cable shift in spite of everything. it would want to should be a suitable loader or mechanical linkage as in cage form area loaders. which in this FWD platform is not likely. in any adventure, the shifter might want to be the indicators of a foul transverse mount challenge. opposite is the bottom equipment ratio. slop in engine/trans-axle mounts have a tendency to be talked about at the same time as shifting to opposite first. or from unloading the torque like going from a force equipment to impartial or park. no longer a bishi guy. so only a wager.

You should replace the gearshift assembly. It's more likely that something is sticking or corroding your gearshift.
