ive been doing some reading on a more natural birth control method-im a total hippy and birth control is terrible for you! i heard that wild yam has been used since way back in the day for a contraceptive. My question is, has anyone ever used wild yam as a birth control with success, or is anyone on it right now and are having success? I really want to do the wild yam thing.

Anything that changes your body enough to stop it from ovulating or implanting is going to change your body. Don't kid yourself that "all natural" means "healthy". Plus, all natural herbs aren't monitored by any independent testing authority like the FDA. So, you don't really know what your getting or if they are causing any kinds of other health hazards. You could pass up birth control for the hormonal side effects and wind up taking something that has even worse side effects. The only difference is a scientific community has explored and disclosed the side effects of one but not the other.

Hopefully UR financially independent and able to support, nurture and educate the inevitable result of relying on an old wives tale for birth control. Orphanages "back in the day" were full of unwanted babies.
Research says it's not reliable. "Success" may be just another word for "Luck"

IUD isn't a contraceptive. It's an abortifacient device.
