I think this song speaks volumes, for me at least:
I CAN ONLY I MAGINE
by Bart Millard
I can only imagine
What it will be like
When I walk by Your side
I can only imagine
What my eyes will see
When Your face is before me
I can only imagine
Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel
Will I dance for you Jesus, or in awe of You be still
Will I stand in Your presence, or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
When that day comes
And I find myself standing in the Son
I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever, forever worship You
I can only imagine
Hope this song speaks to you like it does for me.

What will I be expecting as I die? Well, I have heard lots of people say that there's a white light and a feeling of peace and of going to somewhere better. I don't see why this wouldn't be true.
Why should a dying person be any less worried about death than you and I, who (hopefully) are not about to die just yet? But while we can shrug it off and think about something else, they can't. I imagine the panicking brain will go to great lengths to not accept that death is the end for it.
I hope that I will believe, in those last few seconds, that I am going towards my own personal Paradise, which - like everyone's - is not quite like anyone else's vision. And that will be a nice way to spend my last moments.
What am I expecting after I'm dead? Nothing. Because when it comes to it, I don't believe that there is anything. I think we just stop existing.

I want to go to heaven, but somehow, I have this awful feeling that I'm just not going to exist anymore.
Ever have that feeling when you think about how this world came to be, what's beyond it, why you are you, where were you before all of this and what was before God (or any religion)? I get that once in a while and it absolutely sickens me. The feeling only lasts for a few seconds, but it's enough for me to question my existence.

Many people whos had a near death experience tend to see themselves go towards a white light. Some people see themselves going through a tunnel and at the end of it theres a light. Some people see the ones they love who would come and get them. Apparently we get attracted to this light. But then I think that the light is god and we move towards him.

We all have our ideas on this.
I believe there is a place we go, where we are all good and happy. We are ageless, all of us are equal. We meet everyone there who ever existed. There are no leaders, no followers.
It's a beautiful place. And guess what? No one on earth can prove my "dream" is wrong. And it costs nothing to believe it, and gives me great joy and comfort.

I believe in both the afterlife and reincarnation... so I'm expecting to see all the people who have passed on before me, they're gonna throw me a big welcome home party! - then a vacation before I cycle back down to earth in a new body.
