my parents are old! 39 and 38.
I find it funny, that they a are amused by little simple things like the ipod.... I was going to upgrade their computer for them, from windows xp to the new vista. But i dont want to overwhelm them!!
They have a difficult time as it is with the old xp.....
What keeps your old minds amused, other than computers?
I mean like if you old folks find all this computer technology amusing, can you imagine how it will be in ten years from now!!
My parents will be ancient.....I know you older people have a hard time keeping up with youth tecnology! i guess my question is?
Do you think kids like me are becomingng more intelligent then our older pairs????

Peace Out Old Dudes!
Thankxxxxxx.

I will be the first to admit that my 15 year old is a computer graduate with honors while I am still in kindergarten, but does that make her (or you, or any young person with little or no 'life' experience) more intelligent? I don't think so. Intelligence is relative to experience. Does it mean that she ( or you ) has the capacity to be bigger and better and smarter and more successful than me? YES...eventually!! LOL

Nope. Modern humans are no more intelligent than the ancient people that built the Pyramids or the Roman Aquaducts. We are marginally intelligent enough to know which end with which to weld a sharp stick.

The Old Dudes using slide rules, chalk boards and drafting tables built lasers, nuclear bombs, nuclear power plants, the SR-71 (fastest plane ever built), and put a man on the moon. We are still waiting to see what the computer generation is going to do. So far not much. I'm sure Ipods and the like are very amusing but the reality is they really pretty much perform the same function as an 8 track tape player.

Keep the pointed end away from your body and don't run with it.

You're not becoming more intelligent. Just more educated. You grew up with this technology where your parents didn't. There's just so much now, it's overwhelming for older folks to absorb something they weren't exposed to all their lives.

You're also exposed to violence from thugs and everything being sexualized thanks to the hiphop culture. Your parents grew up with hope that the people of the world would continue to treat others with respect. It used to be like that. Pop culture is so shallow. Values are dead. Good luck in your life. I hope you make it out alive.

LOL - no. There always has and always will be new stuff. Back in the day, I have no doubt that those of my mother's generation were looking down on their parents for not understanding the washing machine.

And besides that, intelligence is not measured by how much you know.

I'm sorry, but, who do you think designs all those programs and technology? Yeah, the older folks do. We don't have a hard time with it. Only people who always have had a hard time with electronics will have a hard time keeping up with the new technology.

Sweetie....when you get upgraded to the ripe ole age of 38 or 39....perhaps you can look back and laugh and not be overwhelmed .....when your kids ask the same question of you....

Cute question! Keep living and ask this question again in ten years!

What keeps my old mind amused is kids asking questions like this!

Maybe your parents can not grasp the concept, but who do you think invented the computer? Your grandparents. It may not have been the computer of today, but it was the technological advancement of their day.

To the contrary "sonny" you have more toys with less intelligence! I am a Grandfather! You are the weakest generation i have ever seen because of many factors! Do not take it personal its NOT your fault!
