It's not the square footage of the residence that matters, it's the location. The more desirable the area, the more expensive the house - not matter what size it is. Go in a slummy area and take a look at the houses for sale there, then go in a subdivision and find a similar-sized home, compare. You will find that the prices are nowhere close to the same.

Don't forget that the cost of land will play heavily into this...
My house was built in 1943, and has been added onto several times. My addition was in 2003. The land is a level 1/2 acre.
2400 sf. $130,000.
This is public information, and they probably live with mommy.

2,500 sq and it cost $86k. 4 br 2 ba full finished basement, was move in ready, with only a few cosmetic changes needed. Cost of living is great here in Kansas.
P.S. I'm not worried about sharing this information. What could you possibly do with it anyway? lol

I got a steal on it I paid 50,000 the value has almost doubled, I'm glad I got it when I did (Before the inflation)
