I got a new ipod for Christmas and I am very disappointed with the battery life. In the booklet it "claims" to have 20 hours of battery life, but I have seen MAYBE 7 hours if I am lucky. If I watch videos it drowns it down to maybe 3. What can I do to increase the battery life? I already leave it plugged into my laptop at home all night when i'm sleeping. I can't plug it into my work computer, not enough USB cables. Thanks! Oh, I have one of the newer ipods with the bigger screens, not sure of the version though.

your battery drains faster when you are watching videos because the screen is on all the time. Set your background light options to off and that seems to help mine. Also, make sure that you don't completely drain the battery too often, if you do it doesn't charge as well.

The reason why you battery life doesn't last as long when you are watching videos is because the screen is constantly lite up and working all the time. You may want to run the battery all the way down the next time before you charge it again. Games will also run your battery life down quick for the same reason as when watching movies. Check in your settings to see what you have you back light setting to. If you set it to the shortest amount of time that may help you out a little.

Hope this info is helpful to you.

The 20 hours is an estimate based on usage and how you charge your ipod. Do you fully charge it (ie charge it for the full time suggested while not in use) and let it completely drain before recharging it? Also, if you are watching movies and the backlight stays on the entire time, you are going to have way less battery time than if you are just listening to music and the backlighting is off. For more information and support though regarding the battery life, check out www.apple.com, under the iPod tab.

when you watch videos and movies it drains the battery at an accelerated rate as you know, try making sure that the backlight is not on constantly also, if you create a playlist with your favorite songs on it you can use that list as opposed to constantly negotiating through the menus (which uses the backlight). Just a couple of hints.

Also, purchase an ac adapter that you can use in a regualar wall plug for when you are at work, on travel, etc.

U have to make sure it's really full. Sometimes it might look like it's full, but it really isn't. You can't let it charged over night. That messes up the battery
