I am just not much for traveling outside the country because of the hassle and the cost. I would love to find a place in California because my fiance has never been to CA. She definately wants to be near a beach. We are not looking for some place with a lot to do, just want to relax after the wedding. Any suggestions?

Try the Green Gables Inn in Pacific Grove, CA. It's in the Monterey Penninsula. It is right on the water and it's beautiful beyond belief!!!

The area is incredible, and at this time of year, you can spot whales, sea otters, and seals right from your room!

I guarantee it is an incredible place to visit. A very small town feel to the whole place, within walking distance to restaurants, sights, etc.

I've lived here for 10 years and still find beauty in this place every day. (feel free to contact me for more info on the area)

Congrats on the wedding, and best of luck.

Santa Barbara, CA

Really, this is my favorite place in the world. In my opinion, heaven would look a lot like this city.

SB is a beach city about 90 minutes north of Los Angeles. The weather is nice in the summer, no warmer than 85 degrees. Generally, it's quiet, although you do get a little bit of college nightlife on State Street (whih can easily be avoided).

The beach is pretty and serene. I like the SB Zoo; their giraffes are great. There are plenty of fabulous restaurants in SB. There are a few museums. The architecture is very Spanish, and the old missions is an interesting draw. State Street is full of nifty shops, and makes for a nice walk. And if you do want to venture out, Santa Ynez Valley wine country is a 30 minute scenic drive away.

If you are on a budget, you can still find decent accomodations. But if you want to splurge, there are plenty of getaways popular with celebs.

There are many places you could visit in CA for a honeymoon:

Sonoma, CA - beautiful area, known for the numerous wineries. You could stay at a B&B or Inn and go wine tasting, touring, shopping, or just relaxing. Here are some places to check out:

Monterey, CA - great area for beaches. My brother lived here for a couple of years and says they have great areas for scuba diving, if that's your thing. Also has great shops and nightlife.

Lake Tahoe - not the ocean of course, but still has great beaches!

Try San Diego. Santa Barbara is beautiful, but VERY expensive, and unless you are very drunk, you will always need a jacket at night. I hear some of the beach towns north of Santa Barbara are amazing. Also, FYI, in Santa Barbara and to the north, the water is pretty cold year-round.

San Diego, or if you decide not to go with California, Honolulu is great.
