the miata (mx-5) almost always had a automatic OPTION except for maybe the 1st years they were brought here. you can sometimes find them used but its something like 8 out of 10 were sold with standard transmissions.

Yes it has a automatic and has for years! The auto this year has paddle shifters on the steering wheel in case you want to feel like a race driver and shift manually without a clutch. It is one of the few cars that most enthusiasts still find fun to drive with an automatic! I am an internet Manager for Mazda, you do not tend to find as many pre owned auto miatas out there cause people tend to keep them. They are usually a third car "toy", but they are out there. We sell about 50-60% of our Miata's in automatic. I hope this helps!

The 1990 models did not have an AT, but they have been available ever since then. The dealers say that they are rare, but in fact, they are relatively easy to find. We have had 5 Miatas, and they were all ATs, since my wife cant do the clutch.
We've had a 91, 92, 95, 96, and our current one is an 06 Grand Touring. The ATs work very nicely, and the 06 has the Manumatic, so both of us get to do our "thing" with it.
The AT is readily available.

They do some model years but are very rare. The car was made to have a manual transmission. Check Edmunds.com to see what years were available with an auto. Good luck.
I checked a few random years, 2003, 96 & 90 they all had atuomatics available. So they may have been available every year but they still are hard to find. Try Auto trader and select auto transmissions in the advanced options.

They do have them, but what would be the point of buying one? Half the fun of a sports car is shifting it. If you do not know how have a Friend teach you. You will learn to enjoy it in a car like the Miata. I am on my third one and can tell you they are very reliable! Just keep the oil and filter changed and you are good to go. Test drive both types and find out for yourself. Good luck!

They're out there. Mazda was smart, they knew that not everybody who wanted an MX5 could drive a manual transmission.
Manual transmissions are found in MOST MX5's though.

Probably not - most sports cars are supposed to be stick shift.
