I am having my first ultrasound in a few days, i would be 4.5 weeks when i get it. What should I expect to see? A sac? Or a sac and a tiny tiny baby in it? I am very anxious cause I had two miscarriages ( 6 weeks no heartbeat and 4 weeks) so far. By the way, my doctor prescribed Asprin and Progesterone to help the placenta. I hope it works this time.

Are you counting from the first day of your last period? If you are 4.5 weeks, then you must have just found out your pregnant. At 4.5 weeks, they are really just making sure it's not a tubal pregnancy. The only thing you will see at this point is a sac, which will be completely black. Don't be alarmed. I had my first ultrasound at 5 weeks, 1 day. The u/s technician told me you won't see anything in the sac until around 7 weeks. I had my second u/s 2 weeks later and got to see the baby and the heartbeat.

I had a miscarriage my first pregnancy at 8 weeks. My OB later discovered that my uterus lining doesn't get thick enough to sustain a pregnancy. I then started taking progesterone when I started ttc again. I would take it from day 16 of my cycle until my period started, or until the end of my first tri-mester if I got pregnant. The progesterone helps nourish the baby until the placenta is fully formed at around 12-13 weeks. I have one healthy baby girl as a result and I am 8 weeks pregnant again.

Best wishes for a healthy pregnancy and baby!!

First question--is it 4.5 weeks since conception or since your last period? We conceived December 27, but we are just over six weeks pregnant, because they count from the date of your last mentrual period.

To be honest, you probably won't 'see' much at all--it will take an ultrasound tech explaining what's on the screen for it to look like anything other than some dots. Mostly, this early they're looking to make sure there's a strong heartbeat, and how many heartbeats there are. I'm having an ultrasound tomorrow just to make sure there's only one in there! :P They won't be able to tell much else, but the ultrasound tech should explain everything to you. Good luck!

I am working on my second pregnancy. The first one I had my first sono at 5 weeks. All you see is a circle "sac" and small round dot like a golf ball inside. My second child was done at 6 weeks and he had his sac too but he was more "bean" shaped.

You really cant see alot of detail. Hope this helps. Good Luck and Congrats!

You will see a very small sac, with what appears to be a grain of rice in it, you will also see a flicker when you look at the screen that will be the heart. Usually you can see the heart at about 4 weeks via US

I think at that early of a stage you would probably just see the sac. But maybe not, hope you get to see the little blessing! Congrats and Good Luck.

They can see the sack at this point and if they are using a level 2 ultrasound they can see the little baby, no heartbeat yet though.. not usually anyway. Best of luck to you!

just the sac at that stage, its cool to see though because when i was 4 or 5 weeks and had an ultrasound the tech showed me everything, even which ovary i ovulated from, it was very interesting that an ultrasound can show you all that!
congrats and good luck

You might see just a sac that is bein formed as a baby. Heres a good picture of what it might look like when you get to the doctor.

You won't see much. I got my first ultrasound at nine weeks and it just looked like a little peanut or a lima bean. You can't see any arms or legs (or any other parts) yet. Good luck :)
