Look for any REM songs, Everybody hurts, Ride the River... anything off the Automatic for the people album.
G 'n R have some great songs, Paradise city, Mr Brownstone, You're crazy etc....
Greeday... Jesus of suburbia, When september ends, Basket case.
Metallica... Nothing else matters is a piece of cake, Fade to Black, Seek and Destroy
If you want a real challenge... try Reign in Blood by Slayer... took me a month to learn... also get some Iced Earth songs, try and learn the gallop technique first though as thier songs have loads of it but a very cool band.

i find paul gilbet stuff great for playing try and learn some licks also steve via is great to learn as is Malmsteen Al Di Meola just pick out bits but why copy everyone else i find making my own riffs songs etc more enjoyable but you never stop learning even after 15 years plus playing

well the songs i started out with were um senses fail and slipknot. if i were u i would start out with senses fail becuz slipknot is reallyyyyyyyyyy hard!!!
