for my first valentines day with my husband he came home from a long day at work. i told him to go and take a shower. i had a valentines day teddie on the bed holding a card. i had the lights off with candles lit every where. there was a bouquet of beatifully arranged flowers, a pair of cute boxers. three giant ballons (one sang) and a botle of ralph lauren polo black. i set all this up and when he walked in the shcok was over whealming for him. i am sure the thank you will be well worth it.

Dinner at a nice restaurant the two of you normally wouldn't go to, a walk along a beach at sunset. An overnight trip to a local bed and breakfast. Defiantly flowers and chocolate somewhere in there.

Tell him to come home, get undressed, and blind folded and that either you or 3 other guys will come in and seduce him. It will be you but make him think it may be someone else, then at the end, if he figures out it's you when he takes of the blind fold then you know that he really knows you well and it's meant to be.

If he thinks it's some one else then at least he had a good fantasy.

i think since you guys have been together for so long you should act like you forgot about the day the whole day until like 11 and then take her somewhere special with roses and chocolate. at the end of dinner give her some expensive jewelry. she would love that...

do a scavenger hunt. leave a piece of paper with a list of things to find. if it's a female for example have her go to a lingerie shop where you would have a box waiting there for her with something sexy in it. when she open it have a key inside for a hotel room-with directions. where you will be waiting in the room w/chanpagne and roses and...........well i think you get my drift.

congrats, hope you have many more years. life is short. live it up!

Congratulations on the 5 years - that is awesome!

However, I wouldn't buy into the crass commercialization of love.
