The Aeta people are the original inhabitants of what is now the Philippine Islands. They've been there thousands of years before the Malays and before Magellan even set foot on the Philippine shore.

The Aeta people were probably the first to settle the islands. There is some question where they came from - most likely from mainland Asia or South Sea islands. Later groups, including Malays, came from mainland Asia. The first westener to stumble onto The Philippines (named after King Philip of Spain) was Magellan, who didn't stay.

The Philippines was first discovered by maritime cultured tribes in the southeast asia collectively called Malayo-Polynesians.
Now, if your talking about the first westerners who discovered the Philippnes, it was the spaniards who first discovered the archipelago. Lead by Ferdinand Magellan, the fleet of 5 ships sailed to find the spice islands(Mollucas) on Sept. 1519. They first set foot on Philippine soil on March 21, 1521.

The ancestors of the vast majority of the Filipino people, the Austronesians from Taiwan, settled in northern Luzon around 2500 BC.
Sailing for the Spanish, the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan and his crew were the first Europeans to arrive in the archipelago in 1521.
Hope this information may help you.

Ferdinand magellan was the FIRST european, the malays (who are the the tagalog, cebuano, illokano etc.. and who are also related to the indonesian and malaysians) i believe were there a few thousand years, before the malays the negrito/aetas are the 'aboriginals' of the Philippines (who live in Luzon), who aren't realted to the malays, but the negrito/ aetas are believed to have been there for over 30,000, much longer than the Malays, and certainly more than the Europeans , but what do you mean by who discovered? Europeans (ferdinand Magellan in this case)? Which peoples( the negritos/ aetas in this case)?
