He probably just feels most secure in there and is nervous of coming out. Don't worry too much, but maybe take him into your vets just in case.

Is he an adult(12 months or older ) or still a baby? It is common for Dragons to act like that some times but diet, age and the en closer might have something to do with it as well. Dragons don't hurt really bad when they bite. So I would rec amend trying more and more to hold him on a daily bases and he should come around with in time. try feeding him some can o pillars. they love those.

Beardies can be quite stubborn when it means leaving a nice warm and safe home in order to go out into the big wide world. Persistence is needed your dragon needs to be brought out on a regular basis. You will find that he will soon become comfortable with the process. Oh this may sound silly but i find it helps, make sure your hands are warm, when removing him from the tank. They hate cold hands on their warm belly.

We have Rankin Dragons and Yang the female refused point blank to come out of the tank so we left the door open and being noisy it started to come out of its own accord, I agree totally with what the other person said. One question though, how long have you had it? as this may also be a factor.

Is it a new pet of yours? Bearded Dragon is like dolphin wich is somehow connected to us, human. They seem to understand what we are going to do. I know cos my family owned one, the Golden Tail Bearded Dragon(Passed away :<) Use to play with him. Try to get his attention so he will be comfortable with you. In long run, I don't think there will be any problem.

No. Contrary to most people's opinion, no reptile likes being handled by people. We are the enemy to them. If you get them young enough they can be broken in to be handled gradually. If they are juvies and subadults it may take a while longer to break them in. They TOLERATE being handled because there is nothing they can do about it. Don't worry about it, just let him chill. Sooner or later he will become adjusted to you. Also if it is chilly in your house they may not want to get off the heat mat where it is warm.

he might just not like to be holded, but he might not not have so much fear of being picked up if you do these easy steps:

1. every day pet him on the back to make him not fear your hand.

2. after about a few days of the first step (or until not feared of your hands) allow him to go from hand to hand while in the cage.

3. once he is use to step 3, try picking him up and down and up and down in his cage.

4.now he will not fear being picked up you will be able to take him out of his cage.

some of them probably werent handled enough when they were younger. holding them when they dont want to is stressful for those guys. gradually introduce your hand to him, let him run on it, put food on it for him to eat. get him to know that your hand is not a big scary predator. once it doesnt run from your hand when you put it in your cage then gradually introduce him to be lifted. slowly....this may take weeks!
