I have a six week old baby, was just wondering if he was on the right track. I know every baby is different, but just wanted to get other mom's inputs. He is currently drinking 5 ounces every 4 hours.

My baby is six weeks old, and she's drinking between 4-6 at a feeding, depending on her mood of course! Lol, sounds good to me, I've been asking my roommate who has 4 grown children, and she said it's normal. The doctor said she could have as much as she wanted as long as she wasn't spitting it back up. :)

You are right, every baby is different. I have three kids, and they were all different. The biggest things that help you tell if your baby is drinking the right amount are: does he wet his diaper once every few hours?, is he gaining weight?, does he spit-up a lot?, does he always act hungry?... If he is wetting diapers, gaining weight, and seems content, he is probably getting plenty to eat. If he spits up a lot and seems to have a tummy ache, maybe he might be getting too much at once. That could also be due to other factors as well, though, so if that happens, it is best to consult a pediatrician.

If he's a happy baby and gaining weight, sounds like he's doing great! And 5 ounces sounds just fine as long as everything else is fine as well... :)

Good luck and congratulations!
