Any good tips for Age of Empires?

i just got Age of Empires II, and so far every multiplayer game I've played i've been the first player eliminated. Does anyone have any good tips to help me win?

While codes can help, cheating is banned on many servers. So they may kick you out.

Well, play the game wisely!

Don't go building a massive army. An army is good...yes...but you must also make people to bring in wood, gold and so on.

Have a fine balance between civilian and military. Pay attention to the resources and your citizens while also making a good balanced army.

Remember, without economy, you can't do nothing. Make pheasants and get a good flow of resources set up immeduately.

Make militias (early on), put them in control key 1-9 groups, and keep them all over your town.

Lumberjack = Wood
Cheese Steak Jimmys = Food
Robin Hood = Gold
Rock On = Stone
Aegis = Instantly builds anything your citizens are or building are working on
To Smithereens = Builds sabotueurs and arent added to your population which means you go n blow up your enemies.

Pretty much m8 I'm a deadly player in the game :) so I gave you the cheats that help me out if I'm gonna die lol. anyways hope you do better with those cheats :)

Also the best race I'd choose is either the Briton's or the Chinese or Mongol's because of the archers. Build up as many as you can into 4 groups and your army will be unbeatable because of the long ranged attacks. Also make sure you got infantrymen or calvary to protect them, never bring siege weapons unless attacking walls and castle's.

There are many fanatical players out there who time everything, so they know exactly how much time it takes to build a castle or get to the next age based on a specific strategy. So if you're playing against experienced players, expect them to have memorized everything about the game's time tables. Learn from them and choose and stick with a specific strategy in order to win.

Make sure to play with other newbies or bad rooks and watch everything they do. Here you'll be around people your own skill level and will probably stay in the game longer. Talk and develop a strat with your team mates and keep to it. Other than that, build a TON of workers immediately to start with and then gather a TON of resources while building your army. Walls are also great.

These games are all about adapting and having more military than the other players or at least the ones your attacking or being attacked by. MY answer is to just keep playing eventually you will get better. Exploit everything.

I have this awesome wood ecomny that works great in the game, it works best as the Britons. What you do is you only get wood as a reasouce. So send your villages to harvest wood, while doing this build a dock and as many fishing boats as you can. Start building spearmen and archers to defend yourself and once your in the castle say hello to longbow men.

try to get a wall up as soon as possible.. make a whole lot of peasants and get as many resources as you can.. sometimes I will try to build walls around the resources to keep the enemy from getting them.. build castles as soon as you can and put peasants inside them.. and get the murder holes upgrade.. castles like that will be able to fight off most attacks unless they come with trebuchets in which case you need to go out and destroy them with an army..
