Don' just accept what they say they are going to do. yes they are definitely responsible for the repair, but you are not required to allow them to do the work, they will most likely repair the cheapest way possible. You have a right to take it to an outside shop. If they give you trouble about it you also have a right to talk to local TV and radio stations, the better business bureau, and the newspaper. In fact if you make enough noise, you may be able to get a diffderent car.

Don't let the mechanic who messed this up do the repairs. Call the police, file a report, then call your insurance co. The mechanic is suppost to have insurance for this kind of accident.
Make sure they dont use filler or bondo on your car, only new genuine OEM parts if its a newer car.
If its a car that is 8 year old and not in perfect condition, then you may have to let the bodyshop use some aftermarket parts.

I personally would call your insurance company and see if you can get your claims adjuster to look at it. Odds are with the repairs done correctly you car will be as good as new. On the other hand there is something called depreciation. Your car may loose value due to the fender bender. You should be compensated for that.

Take lots of pictures, contact an attorney, have you're car removed from that repair shop, taken some where else, these guys are idiots, they could cause you your life, don't trust them to repair the car.

I would have the mechanic pay for the dealer to make all repairs. This way the work will be guaranteed and it'll be the way it was before the crash. Whatever you do, don't let them send it to "their" shop, as they may use inferior products, or workers who don't specialize in your vehicles.

Depends on the extent of the damage and how nice the car is,
like any crash and smash, take it to a body shop and get an estimate, then shove it up the manager's .............. and demand payment.

Kinda sucks but that is exactly what will happen. Most shops are very good at body repair and matching paint so shouldn't be too bad. I know how you feel though...new car? SHEESH!
