Due to the fact that you are bleeding for a long period of time, you need to see you gyno. because there can be several causes as to why your bleeding. Keeping in my that when you have your menstrual cycle it is like cleaning out certain impurities, it is possible that your body does not think everything is gone so you continue to bleed. You may need a pap smear done to rule out things like polyps, etc. Some gyno. might also suggest a D&C, which is a scraping of your lining. But the family planning gave you a simple solution because at the end of the day your gyno. will probably still give you birth control to help regulate your period so it will know when to stop. Also since your cycle did begin again you may need a stronger birth control doseage that will work for you.

You need to see a real doctor this time around. While I don't disagree with the family planning clinic prescribing you a low-dose BC, as it pretty much is a "catch-all" treatment for many female health issues, it obviously is something beyond that and you need to go to someone who is going to really do an examination on you to figure out what is wrong.
Bleeding when you're not on your period, is not normal, especially if it's gone on for some time now. I want to say that it could be endometriosis, but the birth control should have helped that at least some in the time you've been taking it.

No, it is not normal. I think you should see a gyno, the symptoms you describe could be endometriosis, but for sure your hormones are all messed up. The clinic should never have given you the pill without an exam, although the pill is used to get your periods lined up right, I do not feel that should have been the first thing used or done. How old are you? Do you have children? Are you sexually active? Do you have pain during sex? Do you feel a heaviness in your lower abdomen(below the belly button)or have sharp pain when your ovaries are pressed? These are all questions that should be answered before medication was ordered. Follow up, something is amiss in there. Good luck.

No, its not normal, were you on a depo provera shot by chance? Sometimes women will have bleeding due to the side effects of the depo shot. This takes time to resolve.I feel you need to see a gyn doctor to get the bleeding under control. If you continue to have bleeding it can cause anemia and tiredness. If you do not have insurance, call the local health department and have them refer you to a women's clinic. Good luck!

I have never heard of this problem before. I would call family planning and let them know the issues you are having, they might be able to help you better. If they do not do anything about it I would consult another physician. Good luck!

no. i had something similiar and was finally diagnosed after many years of being put on birth control and being told not to worry about it, with PCOS. get it checked right away. it could be something minor but it may not be either. better safe than sorry.

You need to see a qualified doctor and discuss this issue with him/her. Not only can permanent bleeding cause physical difficulties, it can also be a sign of hormonal inbalance.
