In my Visual Basic 6.0 program , i want to add a reference to ADODB library.Whenever i click on Project--->References then the following message pops up:
Error Accessing System Registry

What is the solution to that?Could someone give me an easy-to-follow step by step solution.

As you have mentioned that 'whenever' you click on Project--> References, you get that error, the problem is definitely not because of ADODB library. There can be two possibilities now -

(1) Your Visual Studio installation is corrupt - try reinstalling Visual Studio and see if the issue is resolved. If not follow next step.

(2) Your windows registry is corrupt. In this case even other Applications in your system should have some problem while execution. If you have noticed this then the problem is severe. You can use a Registry-repair software to fix this, but in adverse situation you may have to reinstall windows.

I would suggest, check the first option if that doesn't work then go for the second one. If you are reinstaling windows, better scan your system for viruses (that might have corrupted registry) and then go for a clean install.

Try reinstalling MDAC (beware of later version which do not include JET) So install an older version first if you need JET then install alater version of MDAC.

Then install or reinstall VB6 Service pack 6

i m damn sure that ur pc got virus.once i was a victim of those things.
scan with an antivirus.or simply rs-install ur OS.
