I am using Internet Explorer 7 and Windows XP. Whenever I go onto the Yahoo Home Page, instead of an advertisement there is a blank red box. It happens with all websites when there should be an advert, there is a red box. How can I get the advert back?
Thankyou!

Popup blockers are, generally-speaking, bad things.

First of all, let's define terms:

A "popup" is a legitimate web page function that allows you to download a file, or see a video, or send email, in a separate browser window. There are a few pages that have ads that appear on popup windows, but you know where they came from 'cause you're on that page. Popup blockers stop these, even if they are needed to function.

A "pop-under" is like a popup, except that it goes under your current browser. All of these are ads, but you still know where they come from. Popup blockers generally don't stop these.

Spyware makes ads appear on a browser window for no good reason at all. People try to install popup blockers to stop these. Sometimes, the people are lucky, and the blocker doesn't stop these ads. That makes the tech's life easier.

Sadly, some do stop these spyware ads, but the blocker fights the spyware, and the computer grinds to a halt, and then people think that their computer is a piece of cr*p.

I never advise blockers, or tool bars, beyond what comes in IE or Firefox (Firefox rocks!). If you've got spyware, then you need to remove the spyware, and install something that prohibits spyware from being planted (ie, Spybot, AdAware, or most of the newer antivirus programs).

Turn off your pop up blocker.
