sticky keyboard.

get a can of spray window foam, not windex liquid, and do a few light coats over the entire keyboard and let it soak in some then wipe away. should solve the problem. if it still happens, repeat.

if you feel really anal, you can pop off each keyboard key with a small screwdriver or butter knife and actually clean all the spaces between them on the board.

I'm thinking you hit something that takes you to short cut keys. Example: If you hit 'Alt' and then 'Tab' your tab key won't do what it's suppose to. Assuming you have windows, if you look to the bottom right on your keyboard, you will see the 'alt' key, a key with a window on it, and(forgive me for the way I'm describing this) a key that looks like a highlighted graph, then the 'control' key. Most likely you might have hit the window key or the highlighted graph key and then pressed another key at the same time while trying to type either a word or a number. If you can remember what you picked before your keyboard went on the fritz then hit those two keys again. Sometimes hitting the 'esc' key several times will end a shortcut process.

it could be a fault with the keyboard itself, of the motherboard keyboard controller, i would try using a different keyboard so u know if thats whats causing it, if that doesnt make any difference its a fault on the motherboard controller this cannot be repaired.
