Nothing wrong with eating a animal, hell I love chicken and beef.
As far as Barbaro, there is a passion to horse racing. Everyone used to rely on animals from everything from transportation to food. Its really hard to understand it if you have never seen a race horse, they actually know when they are winning. There is a light in their eyes and they love the race because they get attention for it.
Barbaro died just trying to do what brought him love and attention. People care because the horse kept running after he was hurt, because he wanted to do good. Its hard to find that kind of heart in any animal or human.

I am surprised at myself even for being sad when I heard the news that Barbaro was euthanized this morning. I grew up on a farm and saw my share of pets being slaughtered or put out of their misery, etc.
But for some reason, this story on Barbaro really makes people emotional. I think it's because of him being a great racehorse and everyone was hoping he would beat the odds and have a full recovery, etc. Also, since the movie Seabiscuit was out and fairly popular -- people may have been following the Barbaro story more.

I'm with you, who cares. Especially when we have a war going on in which American young men and innocent civilians are dying everyday. Hundreds die daily in Darfur. A baby will die every ten minutes in the U.S from starvation. I think you'll find that the level that people care about Barbaro is in direct, inverse proportion to their intelligence and education. And then there are people like Pamof4 who equate earnings with worth. Either way, anyone who grieves Barbaro is basically out of touch with reality, and most likely unemployed or a stay home Mom with no life, thus they latch on to causes in a pathetic attempt to fill the hole. There are always, too, those Misanthropes out there who value animal life more than humans.

This was an animal that wanted to live. He added light and love to this world. He worked hard for his owners and ultimately gave his life. The pig that you ate and the chicken that you ate - neither wanted to die just so you could eat.

Did your chicken or pig win the Kentucky Derby?? Did they earn millions?? I guess not, because sure as Sh@t you wouldn't eat them! You'd be really sad too if your, (pardon the pun), meal ticket had to be euthanized!

interior the former days, expenses weren't so intense, and individuals did not purchase expensive kit like saddle, they did not continually get vet, tooth, and hoof care, they only had a broom to groom the horse, and they grew their personal hay, and horses did not stay see you later lower back then, people used them for artwork.

You spineless bastard. Barbaro is someone's pet. Not livestock. So for you to compare someone's pet to livestock is inaccurate. Hope you rot in hell for this one.
