On my third day,it releses one solid red bloody substance which reduces so much my heaviness and painfulness ....so any idea what does that substance really is???and is it really normal to release the so called substance that I've mentioned above????I'm only 17 yr old..

Feeling pain with your period isn't normal but the bloody substance is a blood clot, which is normal. The only pain that you should be feeling is stomach cramps, bloating, or backaches which is part of a period. If you don't feel these but other pains from your vagina, schedule a doctor's appointment. The blood clots are a sign of a normal period. A thrombus, or blood clot, is the final product of the blood coagulation step in hemostasis. It is achieved via the aggregation of platelets that form a platelet plug, and the activation of the humoral coagulation system (i.e. clotting factors). A thrombus is physiologic in cases of injury, but pathologic in case of thrombosis.

Specifically, a thrombus is a blood clot in an intact blood vessel. A thrombus in a large blood vessel will decrease blood flow through that vessel. In a small blood vessel, blood flow may be completely cut-off resulting in the death of tissue supplied by that vessel. If a thrombus dislodges and becomes free-floating, it is an embolus.

Thats odd! My period is really heavy and painful the first day, lighter and not painful the second day, and barely anything on the third day. I have never released anything like that. You might want to see you OBGYN.

that bloody mass is probably the placenta. when a woman is not pregnant, the placenta is shed as well as the blood. everything sounds pretty normal to me, but everyone is different. I never had much pain, but otherwise it sounds like what I went through every month. to be sure you'd need to be checked by a doctor.

The substance is a blood clot, which is completely normal.

Sounds like a small clot doesn't sound like anything to worry about. You should only worry if you have to changa your pad every hour that sounds too heavy. But you sound normal to me.

This is most likely a blood clot...if it concerns you, I would check with you doctor. Most likely, it is no cause for concern. Most women get these...I know I did...
