I also own a 1972 Chevy truck. If you have the time and money and want to start restoring most people would say do it all the way. This can cost thousands especially if you want original parts that are not cheap reproductions. My question is what are you going to do with the body and engine? If it is all original then you might not want to customize the interior, but if you have a different paint job or engine you may as well just customize to your preference. Honest opinion these trucks look better customized. Which is what I am doing with mine, but also mine was not near original when I bought it. If I did come across one that was original I would definitely restore.

I don't know about you but the factory interior on a '72 C10, isn't much to look at in the first place

Depends on what i wanted to do with the truck..if you want to do car shows of a custom nature...go the custom route...if you are more of a traditional collector, keep the interior original....

customizing will increase the value to another individual, but more so for those who are collectors. additionally, customizing the entire vehicle could increase the value of a collectible by ten-fold at an antique and classic auto auction.

I'd only do the gauges, steering wheel, seat, carpet. Anything that's too trendy will hurt the value.
