It seems like there is alot of Jingoism going on rather than actual Patriotism!
Jingoism is chauvanistic Patriotism! Not actually promoting what the laws of the land intend!

True patriotism is having a healthy, and realistic view of our country. It's being true to the ideals of this country, even when it requires taking an unpopular stand.
Jingoism, on the other hand is having an unhealthy and unrealistic view of our country. It is lip service to the ideals of the country while working against these ideals. It is a desire to force a person's ideals on others through aggression.

Well, by this definition most Republicans are jingoists and most Democrats are patriots.

Patriotism is doing anything for your country, from serving in the military to just doing civic volunteer work.
Jingoism is phrases like "support the troops."
Every taxpaying citizen "supports" the troops, whether they like Bush or not.
Jingos are phrases empty of real meaning.
