To understand a dream, it’s helpful to keep in mind why and how we dream. When we sleep, the body and perception systems are shut down, but the brain remains active. The brain thinks about what has recently been most active during waking hours—experiences, thoughts and feelings accessed recently whether consciously or not. The brain is still active, so it works on this content, but not in a familiar, rational way. During sleep, this material is not related using input from the external real world, but rather by the brain connections already established in the cortex. So the story connectedness isn’t like everyday experience, but rather a strange, circuitous flow from one image to the next. So dreams aren’t magical messages to guide our life, but dream imagery is taken from everyday experiences, thoughts and feelings that matter most to us during our waking life. So it’s a mistake to apply standard symbol definitions, such as Freudian meanings or standard “dreammoods” symbols. All you need to do is think about what kind of imagery it is and how it relates to your daily life.
The meaning of your dreams has nothing to do with events that came afterwards. The meaning has everything to do with the fact that past disasters have made a big impression on you. For example, 2 years before Katrina, Florida was hit several times by big hurricanes. The damage was extensive and many locations were badly damaged. Even Tampa was threatened! These horrible events were enough to cause the kind of long-term worry that will create dream imagery. It can stew below the level of consciousness and activate during association while sleeping.

I got chills just from reading your accounts here. My answer is this. First and fore most, dreams in general have no rhyme, nor reason. They are expressions and apparent reliefs of the psyche, pressure valves if you will. They are not understood, but it is natural and healthy for a mind to perform them.
It is the playground of personalilty and it seems to refresh us for a new day, just as physical rest replenishes the body, dreams replenish the spirit. ( e.g. The next time you recall a dream that made you feel happy or carefree, make an extra mental note on how you feel emotional wise, and how your attitude was affected by the dream, even if you got up saying " Wow! That was crazy, I have no idea what this means!" ).
Whether we remember our dreams or not all humans, and many other animals, dream. Science is unable to specifically quantify the existence of dreams. Explain them away, or do anything other than theorize them, and their basis for existence. We only know that we have sleep cycles that occur naturally, and that we dream when we are in these cycles.
Are they lapses in our memories? Are they revelations of mental awareness, the fears, and the hopes, or the such? We will not be able to really know. All that we can do is create studies and examine the facts and create theories, as to how and why we all dream.
Now on to your specific dreams, I believe in a higher experience, I believe in the inexplicable 6th or 7th sense...there may be more, we are not capable of realizing just how deep, or how spiritual we human beings are.
But we are made up of at least three distinct levels of existence. 1). Natural, the body. 2). Mental, the mind, or the heart, the conscious attitude. 3). The Spirit, the soul, the subconcious.
I believe Dr Freud, in one of his cocaine episodes, explained it this way, the "id", the "ego" and the "super ego".
However, although I am a student of pyschology I am not all that is Freud! Nor am I a doctor of Psychology, yet it is my major.
I disagree with his theory of everything being sexual. Life is greater and deeper than mere physical sexual experiences. Your specific dreams are a proof of to this.
I don't know why you have these dreams, but I believe that they explained in two distinct categories:
1).Real and not generated, stimulated, or created out of your fears.
2). Or, (duh huh) Ficticious and motivtated by naturally reasonable stimuli, ie a movie or phobias or a book, etc.
I will address these with the 2nd first;
They could be created out of your fears, and in hindsight bias, when they appear to come true by association to an actual event you say, aha! You dream of a tidal wave and a week later a tsunami hits a Pacific island.
Or they could be an extra sensory perception. There could be argument made for either side.
You dream a week with reoccuring themes of a tsunami hitting the Northern coast of California, causing havoc and taking toll of human life. Flashes of the time of day and or a relating tidbit of info relates to the day, maybe you saw in your dreams the newspaper washing up in a puddle or a stream that stated the date and day. And then the next week, on the day of the week within the time frame of given information a tsunami hits San Fransisco, and the Oregon coasts, well you see the point.
In your case, you might be a receiving premonitions from a higher source? There are so many factors that need to be isolated and looked at, in order to draw any accurate and scientific thought.
There are FM, AM, telecommunication, and tv transmissions floating in the air right now, and there arent many who have not thought of someone, when in moments later gotten a phone call from that person, " I was just thinking of you..." or ran into that person innocently later that day.
I am a student of the Scriptures, I believe in dreams sent by The Living God. I am not able to explain it, but I believe that there are gifts of divination, although it is not acceptable to the average coffee drinking joe, ( yet, this life is not about averages, it is about the uniqueness of our individual lives, and a reflection of the phenomenally superior unknowns, that we strive to answer that defines and characterizes our God and Creator, and He is a Spirit, He is Supernatural, He is Bizarre, and Phenomenal, His Foolishness and Lightheartedness, is way beyond our mortal comprehension, mankind's greatest genius and knowledge, is just the primary understanding of spiritual ability, quantum physics, the theory of relativity, just the beginning of knowledge, the abc's if you will to Him.)
I have studied geology, psychology, and history religion. They all define a Greater being, they all show forth a reason to believe rather than prove why or how mankind crawled out of a stagnant mud hole somewhere.
Now getting back to you and your dreams....
When we look dreams of premonitions, in the Scriptures, one thing I find redundent, is they are repeated without variation. Same dream same explanation and meaning to it. Or the same meaning giving in two different modes of anology, with likenesses of examples yet the dreams being presented differently yet, with the same outcome.
Some were done to prophesy a future event, some are cloaked in analogy and mysticism and are for future dates, and occurances that are to be, or some have been explained and used for interpretation by a person for immediate acting upon, i.e. Joseph explainng what was to be to the Pharoah of Egypt. Some insight of prophesies were given to different men at different times in the epic of time, both , or all being before the prophesied event is to occur, given in different formats yet resulting in the same basic results, Daniel, Ezekial, Isaiah, Revelations...all these books written by men at different times in life, by different men, all pointing to an end of time scenario.
I am truly interested in your dreams and I would like to know more of them. I am not able to give you a means to get your data to me, so I will have to just say...seek an answer spiritually for them.
Know yourself, trust yourself, believe no matter if anyone else does or not, and if they are to be used for the benefit of mankind, to save lives to warn of doom and catastrophe, then act upon it. You will recieve some sign some answer to your asking..".What of this, and why?"
All that we do, we do by faith, and faith is active, it
produces actions taken and results follow actions.
We also know that dreams and premonitions can be wrong, and as humanity goes, most likely more often than not, they are wrong.
For example, me watching a movie that had terrorists blowing building up, well this becoming the main theme of my dream, this could be explained by mere association.
But when they appear to be specific and precise, a given place a given content, a given outcome, and it is narrowed down to location and time and accuracy, or when the dream seems to have a truth, and scream out warnings against catastrophe and mayhem, it is then that I find it being more than just the human psyche expressing hopes aspirations fears, or what have you, mere mental activity and reliefs of the psychological steam in
out lifes, it is then that we find it truly paranormal contact with a higher being, and revelation.
Seek for the answer that you ask about your dreams from a higher source my friend. I challenge you that if you do this, then you will find an answer.
