I'm pretty sure that a lot of my makeup is years old. Does it ever expire? How often should I buy a new compact, eyeshadow, eyeliner, foundation, etc.? What's the best kind for someone on a tight budget?

Mascara: should be replaced every 3-6 months
eyes shadows: about 1year- 18months...if it starts to bother you
eyes, throw it out sooner.
lipstick: can last a long time...if it starts to get cakey or
smell, toss it
foundation: for your skins sake, i would replace every 6
months, but it can last longer...if it
separates throw it out
Blushes and other powders: same as shadows

If u use mineral make up it does last longer, and has expiry dates on it...but it is pricey...as for on a budget.....Loreal, i believe is make by lancome, so its not too bad....Hope this helps

I change my make-up every 3-6 months. It might not say it will expire but it actually can. Especially eyeshadow. If you have eyeshadow for a long period of time and use it, it could cause a rash in your eye, I know this from experience. Lipsticks are different, you can hold onto them for a while. Foundation does expire too, if can cause bad break outs. If you are on a tight budget, go with a low budget make up brand like Covergirl. Hope this helps!

Makeup doesn't necesarily expire although it can become contaminated with germs and bacteria. Concealer: Has a life of about 18 months due to emulsion (the ingredients will begin to separate). Also, remember you’re generally using concealer to cover blemishes, which can be more sensitive and prone to infection than other parts of your face.
Liquid Foundation: You should never use liquid foundation after more than one year. Always use a sponge, and not your germ-laden fingers! If the foundation separates or smells bad, throw it out.
Loose Powder: This item can last for years.

the official rule is 6 months - 1 year, but use your own judgement. remember that this stuff gets rubbed on your face, so if it looks shady, throw it away. go to department stores and ask the salespeople if there are any good deals going on. Make up compnaies have a lot of spring products coming out now, so there's probably some good combination deals out there.

Mascara you should buy every two-three months. most foundation probably after nine months to a year. eye liner and eye shadow stay good for a long time. Maybelline mascara is best because it doesn't dry out as fast as other mascaras
