A myth is a religion-based story meant to entertain and educate. The stories in the bible are myths as well as the stories of the Greek gods. Both are based on faith, confidence in something that cannot be proved or disproved, and are meant to teach things like morals. They are made to be entertaining to so people will want to hear or read them.

Myth is a fascinating idea. Last night, in fact, I was reading in "Why God Won't Go Away," by Andrew Newberg that myth "in its classical definition...comes from the Greek 'mythos' which translates as 'word,' but one spoken with deep, unquestioned authority. 'Mythos,' in turn, is anchored in the Greek term 'musteion,' which, according to religion scholar Karen Armstrong, author of 'A History of God,' means 'to close the eyes or the mouth,' rooting myth, Armstrong says, 'in an experience of darkness and silence."
Personally, I would recommend reading both Armstrong and Newberg to get a sense of what myth means. You would not go far wrong to add Joseph Campbell to your reading list, either.

a myth is a story that may be true to some point but not competley it has usually been altered with religon and beliefs of gods directley intervening with day to day life. The Greek gods are usually the first thing people think of when it comes to mythology but that is not true the end of the mummy returns, and that the one who kills the scorpion king will control Anubis' (god of the underworld) army.

God is a myth. All stories of Gods are considered myths. The current Gods: God, Allah, Jehovah (all the same being) - they one day shall be relegated to the myth books as well.
Or, you have to ask/wonder for yourself: Why have all other gods gone the way of the dodo, except for the newest ones???
