They are not purely black. Blue is a recessive trait that hide for generations. As long as it has occured once on either side, a child can have blue eyes. Green is a more dominant color, but it is less common and can still hide beneath the brown.

my friend has blue eyes and is all black. you don't have to be a mix black person to have blue or green eyes. you can have it though genes.

Unless everyone in your family is from Africa or African, but you are still black, chances are you are mixed with something somewhere down the line, usually white or native american. That is why it is not uncommon to see very plae or light "black people" with differnent colored eyes.

In full blooded black people it would probably be very unlikely. Although I know this mulatto girl who has blue eyes.

The same reason whites are born with brown eyes. It is called genetics.

This is just a thought but, maybe it's because most African Americans today are really just dark-skinned Americans (we are more a group of mutts than anything else.)
