Okay, i've been playing this on my pc via GBA emulator.
I've used some gameshark codes, just for a master ball or two, and rare candy cheats...
But anyway i finished the game earlier on, defeated the final 4, and then then "gary" and watched the small scene where my pokémon went into the hall of fame etc.
But then the credits rolled, and after 4 minutes of watching boring credits... the game went black -_-
Is it meant to?
Somebody PLEASE help!

No. There's still the unknown dungeon that is unlocked after you beat Gary for the second time, inside resides Mewtwo. Also there's 386 Pokemon to catch and there's always battle colisuem.

the game isnt finished every time that you deafet elite 4 and gary the game will be restar. The main story is finished when you deafet gary but the real deal is to gother all the pokemons.If you gather all the pokemons i think that the game is fenished.

that's there, all you gotta do is conflict Giovanni. Ah, yet i trust that you have not defeated the Rockets in Saffron city, so as that is why i imagine you do not have the eighth badge. figure out what you want to do & the position to bypass with the component i have gave you.
