Bad? Bad?? Imagine living in a world run by fanatic religous zealots who simply kill you if you don't live your life the way they say. That is the end goal of such terrorism - to dominate the world with fear, to take away all basic human freedoms, to crush the common man with poverty and despair, and to take the world back to the technological level of the 12th century. Regardless of how you feel about the situation since then, it was an unprovoked, evil attack on our civilian populace and business world designed in the hopes of causing our economy to crumble. These fanatics come from countries where internecine fighting, strife, bombings, and murder are an accepted part of life, with rampant poverty and starvation around every corner, and where they are conditioned to hate Americas' affluence by the jealousy of their religious leaders who simply cannot stand that there are countries in the world who do not answer to them.
Yeah, it was bad - it was the unofficial beginning of World War III.

It was bad because so many people were killed, and because terror actions are always "that bad".
That being said, I don't think it was worse than the terror attacks in London or Madrid, or any other place that's been attacked. Yeah, more people were killed, but that does not make a difference to those who lost a loved one in London.
9/11 has gotten so much attention because it was in America, because it was the Twin Towers, and because of the amount of lost lives. Not saying it shouldn't get that attention - it was, and still is, a tragedy, but not worse than the one in London.

And, really, it's not worse than what's going on so many other places in the world (the wars in Africa - all the terror in Baghdad and so on). Innocent people are being killed there as well, and more so than in the 9/11 attacks. But because those are poor underprivileged countries, and it happens there every day, we don't hear about it in the same amount.

War and terror is always "That bad"!!

Horrible. I live here in New York and work right in that area. Devastating is a mild word to describe that day.

No...it was an overrated publicity stunt!

This is a dumb question, of course it was really that bad! Many innocent people lost their lives that day!
