My wife has had lower right abdominal pain and migraines for over a week now. We went to the ER and they told us that she had inflamed stomach glands or inflamed lymph nodes (the doctor couldn't decide...). She was prescribed hydrocodone which we later found out she's allergic to. Does anyone have any idea what might be the cause behind her sickness? I've checked medical sites already to no avail.

We called the ER today and they told us now that instead of the original $250 payment, it's now going to be $8,670 so I don't think we'll be seeing another doctor soon...we don't have an income (both students) and neither of us have health insurance.

Remember, the ER is great for real emergencies, but the ER's job is to move you in and move you out. They do not keep people there, and they have a constant flow of people coming in. Therefore if you are in imminent danger of dying, they want to get you home or admitted to another floor. Therefore they miss stuff all the time. Your wife needs to see her own doctor and if necessary a specialist. It could be literally anything. Don't let it go, have her seen by a good physician, he/she will probably run some labs and have some abdominal and head CT scans to try to find out the cause.
ok wait...$8670??? What tests did they run on her? You usually can have surgery and an overnight stay for that sort of cash, goodness. If you are students and have no income, you can apply for state medicare, you can get it retroactively to help pay this bill. Ask the hospital to refer you to the person who assists people with applying, generally they are helpful - mainly because they want to get paid.

There are so many things it could be. It's hard to tell if you can't see her and haven't taken a full medical profile.
Depending on how low it is, lower right abdominal pain could be appendicitis, or ovarian cysts. The migraines could have been triggered just from the stress of the pain and not knowing what causes it or it could be another condition causing both.
The best answer anyone here could give you is to take her to another doctor for a second opinion, or even a third doctor. Be persistent and don't let them brush you off, because she obviously has something that needs medical attention.

She could have an imflammed or a cyst on her ovary or she could have irritable bowel syndrome !! I have hjasd both and they are very painful and if she is still hurting i would take her back to the ER and demand that they look further into this an have them check her gall bladder &appendix !! I have had problems with all of these and these doctor's in the ER try to rush you through things just to get to the next patient it is sad but true. Demand that they do something for her because no one deserves to be in that much pain trust me i have been through it all and GOOD LUCK !!!!!!

did they check her for an ulcer? tell her to stop eating spicy (or acidic food) for a week or so. if that helps it she might have an ulcer. what you really need is a second opinion. schedule an appointment with a doctor who specializes in the abdominal section. they will have a better idea of what it might be. good luck

after i read the first sentance it brought back my symptoms before i found out i had pelvic inflammatory disease, it infects the womans tubes etc and can make her infertile, i had abdominal pain and headaches too, i think she should get checked at a hospital to make sure she hasnt got that, its probably nothing as serious as that but its better to be safe than sorry. hope she feels better soonx

Could be her ovaries, she may have a cyst or something on them.
I would take her to the doctor/obgyn, they can order testing/scans things on that order.
