We all have our needs. I highly recommend that you should sync it to the computer at those times. Keeps everyone happy.

Assuming you are using the Rhapsody To Go, Napster To Go, or another music service that lets you take songs with you without buying individual tracks....

The Sansa player needs to sync with the computer to make sure you still have the rights to play those songs. In other words, the player wants to make sure you are still subscribed to that particular music service.

I use Rhapsody To Go with my Sansa e260R, and it only needs to sync every 30 days. I've heard that the non-Rhapsody Sansa players operating in PlayForSure mode can "get out of sync" before the 30 days are up.

I bought my Sansa Rhapsody instead of just the Sansa because I've heard about this problem. The Rhapsody version fixes it with the new Rhapsody DNA digital rights management.
