I'm not talking about loosing your mucus plug, water breaking, contractions, or nesting. I am looking for more subtle signs that I may be going into labor soon. For example; I noticed the other day that my breasts have started leaking a clear fluid (colostrum maybe ?). Is this a sign I will go into labor soon? I still have four weeks until my due date, but I just want to know some of the other signs of labor nearing. Thanks so much!
P.S. I go to the doctor every two weeks, so I know I can just ask her. I would like to have other women's input on this. Yes, I have the pregnant woman's bible ... What to Expect When Expecting. Thanks.

I can hardly even walk! My hips feel like they are out of socket!!
I want to carry my baby full term. This is not a question about that. I just want to know when I need to start keeping my legs shaved everyday! LOL!!

Just remember that everyone is different, though some people can feel things others cannot but these seem to be about the same for most women. Or as I"m told.
Lightneing it's where the baby drops into the pelvis, you'd notice your stomach is a little different maybe your able to breath easy because they aren't up against your lungs as much. Increased pressure in your pelvis also, it happens about 4 weeks and close to delivery.
Discharge increases, but I never had that, maybe some more lower back pressure or pains more often.
WIth both my two first kids (i'm on my 3rd) I felt a sudden lose of appetite, I just wasn't very hungry, but I was suddenly into the organize re organize zone where I just kept on cleaning up and getting ready. But I am a neat freak so that may not help you.
Most people say they get tired the last few weeks, but I had a boost of energy I went for longer walks, was up more than sitting down, felt more relaxed actaully and fell asleep easier.
I went 2 weeks early with both my kids but my mother, and sister and a few friends that I've talked with before said they all felt more of the braxton hicks through the last 3-4 weeks, stronger more noticable.
There's probably plenty more signs but those are the ones I've heard mroe about and have either felt or seen someone go through the last few weeks. My mother said one thing that happened each time with her 5 kids..yes five, was she had the runs the last week or so, her body was trying to clean out before delivery, but not sure if everyone gets that or not. Heard about it, but never had it for me.

Again remember it's not the same for everyone, but if you are feeling different and or something has changed than instincts are probably getting in gear for the big day. It's amazing that mothers gain the new intinctive feelings when they have a child, it just grows along with the baby until you have eyes in the back of your head and can hear / see through walls and know just what their up too!
Hope I helped a little. Good luck! Congrats!

I'm sorry to tell you this, but I was leaking some colostrum over a month before my son was born. Another more subtle sign is the baby "dropping" but this doesn't happen to everyone and is not always noticable. Are your hip joints feeling loose at all? Mine were about a week before labor. I know the last stretch is so frustrating because you just want to have the baby allready, but it truly is better to go full term. You WILL know when your body and baby are ready. Unfortunatly, many doctors induce within a few days after the due date, so lots of first time moms end up being induced. The end result is all that really matters. Here you go...

It's called Braxton hicks. Those are going to happen from here on out. I can promise you when you have real contractions, you'll know it and you won't be able to talk through it. Creamy discharge and loads of it is common during pregnancy, i get it every day and i am 37 weeks. when your water breaks, you'll know it, because it won't stop coming out, and you'll soak a pad with thin, clear, watery fluid in 30 minutes. And I don't mean wet, I mean soak, and it will keep on coming. This is your first baby so if you are having a normal pregnancy you will probably go over due. If you think your really in labor go to the ER, and they will assure you that you aren't, unless you are, but I doubt it, and I hope not because your baby would be premature and spend time in the nicu. Trust me. If you were near labor, you wouldn't be on Y answers rightnow. It's painful, and there is no mistaking it. Bettervto be safe than sorry though :p

The leaking is normal, and not a sign of labor. Sometimes women dont lose the plug and show some of the signs, but if you start getting regular contractions and they keep getting harder, then its time to call the doctor.

I started majorly leaking milk at 28 weeks and still am at 32 weeks. So I don't think that is a sign, but congrats on getting your milk...lol! I think the major signs are the ones you already listed. Subtle signs are different for everyone. Pregnancy is like a snowflake and no two are alike. Good Luck!

I heard that some women loss a pound or two the week they go into labor. Maybe just an old wise tale but interesting non-the-less. I wish you luck and a happy healthy baby.

I'm not sure, but if a head comes out, you're way past that point!
