People without children have to pay a share to fund school systems because if they did not, the ignorant, infantile teenagers that would grow up with no education would vandalize your house, steal your lawnmower, spray paint walls, and generally speaking, you are paying for the improvement of society.

Single people do get a break, just not on taxes. You don't have to buy back to school clothes, diapers, formula, bicycles, pay for soccer, guitar classes, hobbies that come and go, intersests that fade, football pads, food for growing teenage boys, $100 tennishoes every 6 months, braces, college tuition, books and dorm room, car and insurance, ballet lessons, toys, video games, day care, science projects - suffice it to say, that I would gladly trade you my 3K per kid tax decuction and pay your property taxes, in trade, you pay me to cover all the expenses of raising a child.

I agree that you should not have kids unless you can afford them, but for a whole different reason - mostly the drain on the federal and state economies.

More people does equal ecomonic growth. If your popluation becomes stagnant, how does the economy grow, exactally?

Finally, who lied to you and told you that life was going to be fair? Its not, don't expect it to be, nobody's is, you are no exception. I would find whomever it was that told you life was fair, and issue them a beating, posthaste.

I think maybe you should be more clear with your question, and perhaps use better english skills when writing to make it more understandable.

When I was a school-age child, in public schools, my parents had to send a fee [above what was paid in school taxes] to pay for consumable workbooks, school supplies, etc. It was a fee for the users of the system. That seems fair, Right?

Why did that change? I am told that someone complained they could not afford to pay the small user fee so probably the ACLU needed something to do, therefore.........you know the rest of that story.

Later, as I was a parent, we made sure that our children had clothing and supplies, not the best... but adequate, and without relying on governmental assistance. I saw kids being dropped off at school by unemployeed parents in their Lincolns and Cadillacs with the $150 NBA or NFL jackets and $90 tennis shoes on the kids, who then went right in and got their free or reduced breakfasts and lunches. And this has no RACE Card being played. It was of every race/nationality. (How did I know such things? ...you know when you live in small towns.)

Maybe it was our self-pride that we did not resort to government assistance? People either choose to not use, to use assistance properly, or they abuse it. Too many people do abuse it....is my opinion. And YES, it would probably be a good thing to go back to the USER FEE system. Why should elderly people (65+) still pay school taxes? Charge the families who have school-aged children the school taxes needed to provide and education for their kids. People with 6 kids living in a trailer should be paying more in school taxes than an elderly widow.

"Not fair"... some will say. Is it fair for people who followed all the rules for their whole lives,... did not live off of government programs,... did not become a burden on local services and health services, etc. . . is it fair to them to be less able to "reach" their dreams in life because they are "dimed and nickeled" to death paying for those who could less about trying to pay their own ways in life?

This sounds cruel. but the older I get I have to live with limited and fixed economics and not so much in philosophical jargon.

If you want to PLAY....then YOU be the one who pays for it. If you find you are having trouble paying the way for two kids, then stop having kids.

Some day if you ever have kids, I hope you remeber this question and realize how self-absorbed you were. People with children generally contribute more to the community anyway, especially in the form of the future of our country. People who can afford kids still get a tax break because the cost is so high, regardless of being able to afford it. Maybe you need the money to spend on a huge mirror to gaze at your selfish mug all day. Give me a break.

Are you kidding me? I have 5 kids and my husband and I pay our taxes just like everyone else. Did you do any research before you asked that Question? All i have to say is my husband is a member of the Armed Forces and any tax break I may or may not get is well deserved.

Because our society has it's priorities all wrong. Look to other countries that do no support Global Overpopulation. From China, where they are admittedly extreme in their enfrocement of the One Child Only policy, to India, where they have positive incentives to families that keep their size small, there are other countries in this world where there are no rewards, no tax breaks for adding to Global Overpopulation.

Take care of the ones already here before adding any more:

Come move to NH my friend, you can get married here :) I am with you, it is ridiculous. I myself have so many gay friends, and the fact that most of the people on here that rant and rave about homosexuality have probably never met a gay person in their lives. Yet is seems they are more against man on man than women on women. There actually was a post where many die hard Christians also said yes they look at women porn getting it on. So there is always a double standard with them. I am behind you 100% :) Equal rights for everyone !!

For a variety of reasons, countries want to encourage married couples particularly to have children. We need the next generation to keep our economy and our country growing. If you look at population growth in western Europe, you'll see most countries are worried about the lack of positive growth and are offering many incentives to new parents.

I share your view especially that's related to population. Its simply right education that can help especially the government leaders not only in your country but also in all the countries in this world on the matter. Why don't we make a child for a couple throughout the world especially in those countries with growing fearful figures in populations.
