Call your doctor. He/she should be able to give you something. I called them my happy pills because it made me so happy to finally be able to sleep at night. Best of luck!

I'm so sorry! I know how bad the heartburn can make you feel. I hope it eases off soon. I tried Zantac, Tums, and milk. I would try dry toast or anything starchy to try and absorb most of the stomach acids. Sitting up should help. I wonder how far along you are. If it's in the first trimester, it should ease up some during the second trimester. If you are in the third trimester, it should ease up some when the baby drops. In fact that was the only way I knew the baby dropped, my heartburn got better. Hey there is an old wise tale that says the more heartburn you have the more hair the baby will have. :)
There were a bunch of foods I had to avoid while I was pregnant because the heartburn would be unbearable. I couldn't eat any tomato products (catsup, spagetti, pizza, anything with tomato.) I also had to limit the fried greasy foods. Peppermints make the heartburn worse too. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine. I hope some of this helps.
I wish you a happy healthy baby! And heartburn relief soon!!!

Greasy and spicy foods actually have very little to do with it. Your stomach can take those quite well. Chronic heartburn is usually from acid reflux - stomach acid is getting past the little valve and into your esophagus. The most immediate thing you can do is to stop drinking coffee and cola. Smoking is not good either, but that might be harder to stop. Don't over-eat. Don't lie down too soon after eating. Don't burp too much - this carries acid up with the burp. You also should know some natural ways to treat your heartburn. Learn them here:

If you have health insurance see your doctor. Prilosic or omerprazole which is a 24 hour medicine should cure any heartburn or acid reflux. Also raise the head of your bed about 4 to six inches, which will help if you have acid reflux. Aslo do not eat 2 hours before going to bed. Milk is not helping you either.

I had an extrememly high risk pregnancy with my daughter (I had lost 8 babies before) and my doctor prescribed ranitidine to me.. My heartburn was so bad that I would vomit to try to alleviate it and the ranitidine was perfect.. it is the same meds as some OTC heartburn meds but a stonger dose... Ask your doctor because they can give you stuff that is safe for you and your little one... and Congrats on your pregnancy

So sorry to hear that... I am going through the same thing and my doctor told me to just drink plain water because milk still has some acid in it. I know you are thinking there is no way that is going to work, but just try it. It will and does work!

You need to see your doctor, heartburn that last too long can be a sign of something more serious.

Dang when I saw this I was going to tell you to drink milk...it always helps me, but I see you have already tried that. Consult your doctor....he might be able to prescribe you something. Mine told me to use Prilosec, I haven't though b/c milk has been working. Good luck
