Can someone take prenatal vitamins even if their not pregnant? I know when I took them when I was pregnant they did wonders for my hair and nails. Are they to much of an overload for someone not pregnant but wants the extra nutrition. Been very stressed lately and not eating correctly.

Yes absolutely. Prenatal vitamins are basically multi-vitamins but with extra folic acid. They are good for growing hair, nails and improving the condition of your hair.

You can also buy vitamins at the store called "hair, skin and nail" which sounds like is what you're looking for minus the extra folic acid. If you are feeling stressed and unhealthy I would suggest taking a normail daily multi-vitamin. These should will probably do the trick as well.

Prenatal vitamins are the same in most cases as a multivitamin the only difference is the add a few extras like folic acid, and increase the dose so that you get enough for you and the baby but they don't increase it so much that you could die from taking it or anything. I took prenatal vitamins for a yr after i gave birth

Prenatal vitamins are given to women who are pregnant because they 'help' both the pregnant woman and the fetus she carries to be as 'healthy as possible' ... and if you are feeling 'very stressed lately' and 'not eating correctly' I think that tells me that you are going through 'new mom syndrome' and may have 'post-partum depression' ... so if your baby is under one year old, GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY. If the child is over one year old, then you still need to go see your doctor, tell him EVERYTHING that is going on in your life, including the fact that you are 'not eating correctly' and DO WHAT HE TELLS YOU. Technically there is 'nothing' in prenatal vitamins that can 'hurt you' but since you are not pregnant and you are definitely 'stressed' about how you are feeling, you do need to see a doctor and do what he tells you, not just 'pop a few prenatals and feel better' ...

yes you can take them even if you are not pregnant... they are vitamins, and could also be good for ur body if u choose to get pregnant later on... vitamins are a good source of nutrition, no matter what kind of vitamins they are... but if u take a multi-vitamin, they usually have the same amount as prenatal vitamins...

You can take them - no problem. It's pretty much just a women's multivitamin with folic acid added. Many women who are trying to conceive start taking them months before they even get pregnant, so it's okay. Unless you ARE trying, maybe you should stick with just a women's "one-a-day" vitamin. You'll get the same benefits - you don't really need the folic acid.

Doctors let you take them even before you are actually pregnant when planning to become pregnant. So, I think it's okay.
