Honestly...Take a big cup of sugar and put some type of oil in with it...I usually add olive oil then if you want it to smell good add some peppermint oil.
It is really cheap and easy to make this so you can take massive handfulls and scrub it all over your body. I do this about every two weeks.
When I buy the store bought stuff, I usually use it sparingly bc Im worried about how expensive it was and I want it to last lol.
Goodluck!

Buffy the Backside slayer from Lush, or their Sandstone soap, or Aqua Mirabilis, or You snap the Whip (but you have to scrub the bath/shower after, and maybe even yourself!)
Jason also do a brilliantly gritty scrub with Apricot, available from health food stores, can be used on face and body so saves space when packing.

if you want to spoil yourself find a Lush store - they make handmade lovely bath stuff - they have a GREAT product called Buffy the Backside Slayer that combines a great sandy texture with a body butter like bar. Use it in the shower and you'll never have felt so soft. I use that once a week. It might be called something else in the UK - I'm in the US, but they def. have that product.

The St Ives range is really good. I know completely what you mean about some exfoliators not having any grit! With St Ives though you can really feel it.
