I am 26 and she is 24. Currently, we are looking forward to join a dance class. But not sure which types of dance is suitable for young adults like us. Social dance, line dance, ballroom dancing and hip-hop dance, which one is more suitable? Is there any age ranges, like I''m too late for hip-hop dance with the youngster.

Latin or Ballroom would be awesome in a pair and yall are the perfect age!! Also I am a college study and we have line dances every month that are tons of fun, and just another idea Swing is becoming really popular among college students and mid 20's age range!! Just look for something that you have fun while dancing b/c if you arent having fun then it isnt worth it!!

Hip hop looks a bit silly after age 30 or so, so I'd not invest a lot of time learning it. American-style ballroom teaches not just the basic ballroom dances but also a variety of social dances, in some studios even including C&W. That's where I'd suggest. If you really like the ballroom part, you'll already have a social dancing background and be able to switch to formal International style if you wish later.

Don't be afraid ask you local studios to observe classes or if they have any showcases coming up. When you do, try to pick something that looks fun. You may find choosing a dance genre is trial and error.

Most studio have classes for all ages, young and old, so don't let your age stop you from doing something you love.

My favorite dances (I'm 30): Salsa, Argentine Tango and West Coast Swing
