IF there is no air between the speaker and listener, sound waves cannot travel.. And hence in moon in the absense of atmosphere, they need radio to communicate.

Well there is no atmosphere present on the moon at all. Sound waves require atmosphere to travel, and as there is none sound waves couldn't propagate very well. Also, they need to wear suits in order to survive in an airless environment, and couldn't hear each other through the suits if sound did travel in an airless environment.

because space is a vaacum- sound waves travel through air- without air they cannot travel
