Captain America and Wonder Woman were in the military, so how were they able to slip away?
And wouldn't a report worth their salt crack the secret identity mystery?

I have heard lots of answers as to why people are unable to tell that Clark Kent is Superman.
First of all there's the general disguise, the glasses. But along with that goes the "mild-mannered" attitude. Superman acts very different when he is disguised as Clark.
Another is that he uses his latent telepathic abilities on everyone to keep them from putting 2 and 2 together so to speak. Although I've never seen this mentioned in comics, it has been discussed. And fits in with the "super hypnosis" theory.
A third reason is that he vibrates slightly so that he obscures his face when his photograph is taken.
And lastly there was an issue where Lex Luthor conduted extensive research to find out who Superman was. After gathering all the data, it pointed to Clark Kent being Superman, which he refused to believe. He said that no being with Superman's power would ever pretend to be human.
I agree with the theory that everyone just flat out does not believe that Clark Kent could be Superman.

As bad as the Clark Kent/Superman disguise is you still have the idea that Clark acts meekly at the Daily Planet, and acts much more confidently in the Superman guise. The one that gets me is Batman. He works primarily in Gotham, he has the most advanced technology pretty much on the planet, and what would seem to be unlimited resources. Who could possibly fit that description? Maybe Bruce Wayne, Gotham's multi-billionaire playboy. Who also just happens to own WAYNE TECHNOLOGIES, one of the world's leading tech companies! And his parents were murdered right in front of him when he was young which is public knowledge, so he has the motive. Geez, stupid Gothamites, make a connection.

OK. This is one of those bizarre things I learned and will never forget. The Clark Kent disguise isn't as bad as it might first appear. Apparently, Superman is using "Super-Hypnotism" while in the guise of Clark Kent to make it look like he's a slender and mild mannered guy.
I only have one source for this , so I'd be curious if someone else could verify this.

Lol, nicely, there became into one episode in an previous Superman series (Teri Hatcher's time) while a villain informed her that she's the main stupid guy or woman interior the international for not spotting Clark as Superman. Lol. The scene became into unhappy for Louis even nonetheless it became into fairly humorous. So i think my answer why human beings would not know Superman as Clark using fact they're all stupid? Lol! it fairly is a harsh answer...

Actually the secret identity works by suspending belief. You would never believe wimpy little Diana private secretary to Hero Steve Trevor was in fact Wonder Woman. It is more about the difference in persona than the glasses.

That's because the public at large is supposed to be idiots while the reader is cleaver enough to see through it.
Batman's was always pretty bad. Given that the last batman has a lisp, it's impossible to miss him.
Wonder woman didn't have a disguise, right? Maybe she just pulled her tresses into a pony tail and that was a disguise...
