alkali metals generally of lower periods is more photoelectric because of their large atomic radii.when the atomic radii of an element increases the elecrons in the outermost shell of the atom is not strongly held by the nucleus.so when light of sufficient frequency falls on it the electron is exicted.therefore they are photoelectric.

if u consider any alkali metal, then we can find many free electrons. the reason is that, the ionisation potential for the alkali metals is very low.
the electrons are less bound to the metal surface due to the same reason. hence they are more prone to loose electrons when light falls on them. eg caesium surface looses electrons even if violet light falls on it.
