No, I would not go along with it. They'd have to tie me down and sedate me against my will. I'd do prison time first, and I'm not being dramatic by saying that, I mean it. My concern? Read 1984 by Orwell, that explains ALL my concerns.

This Real ID Act of 2005 does not say or imply anything that says the government is going to require microchips.
Read it. The part about IDs is saying that state issued IDs have to be consistent and linked in a database. I have no problem with that. Nowhere in the constitution does it say that the government does not have the right to know who its citizens are. I do not think the US should not share this data with anyone such as marketing groups or something like that, but sharing the data with other states and law enforcement agencies is a good idea. Protocols need to be in place to stop ID theft though.
I look at the Real ID act and I see nothing that indicates that the would be mandatory ID chips in people. If the act had abolished state IDs and instead pushed a federal ID that everyone had to get regardless, then you may have something. This act does not even require that citizens have an ID. It just says that non-compliant IDs will not be accepted as identification for US government purposes.
IN RESPONSE TO YOUR RESPONSE.
Hey, you asked the question and asked "With the Real ID Act of 2005 do you think that eventually this will be the next step?". So I am answering a question of yours. It may not have been the title question but it was a question you had asked.
Your question implys that you are thinking that the act is taking us in that direction. I said no, there is nothing in there that says that or implys that. I never accused you of saying that the act authorized any such activity. I just said that I do not believe that the act is a step toward the microchips that you describe.
By the way, the definition of a rant is "To speak or write in an angry or violent manner". Please tell me how my writing matches the definition of a rant.

I think it would be good. From what i've heard, the mandatory part would be for all convicts and child molestors, and newborn babies as the next step. It will be especially good for convicts and child molestors so the government will know where they are at all times. I also think it's good for newborns because if they are ever kidnapped or run away, they can be tracked down, making law enforcement's job much easier. I haven't heard of the Real ID act. But yeah, I think it would be a good idea.

I think as someone who has nothing to hide, as we all should be this shouldnt be a problem. If there was a system that would check for chip presence in an individual as they were out and about it would be easy to pinpoint the people who are here illegaly. i.e. if the buzzer goes off when a person without a chip crosses a certain sensor it would then be known that individual is not here legally and would be easily removed and set to their home nation. Or in the case of people with terror goals they can be captured. Alot of people would cry and whine about such a system but then they would cry and whine when another terror plot strikes. "what could we have done!?"

I would hate it, I would not take it as because I believe it will be like the Mark of the Beast and they will have to kill me first.
But I know that a mandatory implementation will be required for all citizens to buy or sell - not just here in America , but worldwide during the last half of the Tribulation and anyone refusing to take to take the Mark will be put to death.
All those who take the Mark of the Beast are condemned to Hell - even those who fake the Mark.

I fear that is the way we are heading. I would protest, they could arrest me, I would run for Canada but I would never let any one steal my freedom. The government has no right to be peeking into my life unwarrantedly. Neo cons have to learn that it the "if you have nothing to hide" mentality is not right. It is more like "Those who would temporarily give up their freedoms for security deserve neither" (apologies if I don't quote it perfectly, this is off the top of my head)

Wake up and smell the coffee. It's gonna happen. I will not go along no matter what. I hope I have what it takes to go as far as death for not taking it. It will be a world wide thing, not just USA.

hate it, it is the mark of the Beast as the Bible speaks of, I will refuse to take it, you will have to behead me first as the Bible states it will happen and will it happen soon, you betcha.
an attack will take place here, in turn they will make the draft legal again (law is already there, H.R. 4752) and then they will require we be chipped as part of the military. then they will come to the non military. anyone who refuses will go into one of the 600 concentration camps that has been built over the last 4 yrs in the USA. yes.....we have concentration camps here....again.

Main concern: too much opportunity for identity theft by *others* who may read (and use) the identity information

If it where to happen we would just have more angry people and more violence and riots breaking out. If it was to happen we would be doing the same awful thing that Germany did to all the Jews and all the other people by tattooing numbers on them to identify them during the Hitler days.
