So obviously I know that this is a scam... I get at least 2 of these stupid emails a day. My question is how do they scam you from just knowing your name address and whatever else was there. Its not like they ask for your bank account, and I'm sure that bank security wouldnt allow them to access your account with just that info. So what is the deal? Does anyone know more about this scam?

Yes, I know it is a scam... I just wanted to know HOW they scam u. What do they do with the info that the people (who obviously aren't smart enough to know it's a scam) give them?

Yeah, it's a scam.

they harvest emails ... or buy lists of emails from other places that have harvested them... or use various other methods of getting emails. Not necessarily from you, but perhaps from others who 'cc' you on mails that go to spammers or virus infected PCs.

Nothing you can do about it... unless you feel like causing grief. There are things you can do... look at (I think) 419eaters.com if you want some really wicked ideas. You can find their ISP by looking throughj the message header and complain to their ISP. You can complain to your ISP and maybe get their ISP blacklisted.

You can install a spam filter if you run your own email server o you can nag your ISP to installa spam filter instead. Baylesian filters are the preference of the day it seems... judging how many have been installed/

i used to get hundreds of these... you have to opt out of it... thats the only way you'll stop receiving the spam emails. usually at the bottom of each email there is a link where it says to "unsubscribe" click on this link... and you'll have to enter you email so that way they take it off their mailing list.

We all get them. It's best just to delete them and get on with your life. Don't ever send them any information.
