Church tends to be a low intensity activity, so people tend to relax. And in a large room where everyone is in a more sedated state of mind, yawning is expected. Yawning itself has been accepted as being contagious. And people often associate yawning with being tired, although that is not necessarily the case. So it would only take a few yawners to get more people to keep it going and people may begin to think they are more tired than they are....combined with the low level of activty from the get-go.

Several reasons. One is your knowledge of that religion and the lack thereof. The sermon is always given in a loud, anger performance that you can never measure up too, and I always tell people that if you need to be persuade about something if it is the truth - you would recognize it immediately, all else needs more explanation to get through. So perhaps you need to do some soul searching for a church that is more uplifting, enlighting and empowering that does not tell partial messages for their sermons. And you could also do some advance reading while in church or the before and after verses so that you can get the full understanding of THE WORD. But always pray that you will receive THE WORD.

I used to got o church with my folks and I spent the whole time yawning because it was BORING as hell, well not hell coz that would be a bit odd in church but you know what I mean! Smoke some pot before you go in, it may not tackle the drowsiness but you might find the topics a bit more "far out"! (kidding) How about taking pro plus?

Sitting in church for a few hours can sometimes be tiring and boring. You probably want to get up and walk out. You should try and go to church at a later time if it is possible.

I think a lot of people do not allow themselves the proper rest the night before their worship service. People also need to come to church with their minds and hearts prepared to received God's word.

Maybe they stayed up late the night before, maybe the sermon is boring, maybe they didn't eat breakfast. It's also usually cold in the church and that always makes me sleepy.

Church (at least Catholic church) is INCREDIBLY boring and repetative to me. I quit going once I was old enough that my parents couldn't force me to go any more.
Religion and church is just a way for people to rationalize their purpose and meaning in life. If it works for you, great.

The devil is busy! Get involved...pay attention. Participate in praise and worship. Listen to the pastor as they preach! Follow along in the bible. Sit next to an elder so when they see you doze off...they pinch you...lol
