My better half was out snowblowing the end of the driveway last night, and when he went to turn the blower around, he slipped on some ice and took a bad fall. Now he has a small lump on his elbow where he hit, and he also fell on his hip.

He called me from work on his lunch break to tell me he was feeling sick and nauseous, and wondered if it had anything to do with the fall. I've looked all over the internet and found nothing, so I suspect he's just having a nervous reaction to a scary experience.

Has anyone else ever fallen on their hip and experienced gastrointestinal discomfort that was actually serious?

I would be concerned if the nausea was related to a head injury. If he has a bang on the head and is feeling sick he should go to hospital immediately.

If he definately hasnt banged his head then most likely is he is just a bit shaken and it will pass. However although its unlikely there are some internal injuries that can cause feelings of nausea and you really need to have these ruled out as soon as possible.

You should check things with your GP - better safe than sorry.

he should be checked by a doctor. Falls like that on ice have been known to cause splenic tears and ruptures. The nausea is a key symptom and he could be bleeding internally. He needs to be checked out.
