If I saw someone that was pure black or white they would probably look strange to me. I think I'm pinkish-beige.

What is this mindset of being white or black anyways?

It is just a way of referring to one or the other. The Mayan people belived that a white god would come to the land. White was a hard color to keep clean and maintain and was equated with being godly or holy. When Cortez showed up and his skin was lighter that the natives they called him white to go with the prophecy. The opposite of white is black or dark so that is how that classification came about

That is a great question and I am glad someone finally asked. I have two mixed kids and to me everyone is just humans. It is the people who are not really happy with their self's that pass judgment on someone for such a thing as skin color. But on the other hand some people don't mean no harm they just use it to maybe describe but in all everyone is the same.

I don't know it's terrible. My oldest daughter is mixed and hates being told she is black or white.
