I know someone who had this done after her first baby was born very premature (but perfectly fine), and had two successful pregancies after that. I believe the second one she did have bedrest for like 2 weeks at the end but still went full term- but by then you're pretty much in the clear anyway.

I have not had this done, but I'm a nurse and work in a Neonatal ICU. I know women that have had great success from this procedure (cerclage.) I have known a few (very few) that went into labor early anyways. I think if it's just an incompetent cervix, then the success rate is very high. But premature labor is a different story. I wish you the best of luck and congrats on the pregnancy. Wishing you a happy healthy TERM baby!

I had this done twice after losing my first baby at 21 weeks. With my second pregnancy, I had the cerclage and no problems for the rest of the pregnancy. I just stayed off my feet as much as possible. I had the stitch removed at 37 weeks and had the baby just a couple of days past my due date. With my third pregnancy, I was doing fine until around 25 weeks when I started having contractions. I went on meds to help stop the contractions and again, stayed off my feet as much as I could (though with a 2-year-old running around it was hard!). I had the stitch removed at 37 weeks and again, had the baby a few days past my due date. Good luck!
