I am a 6th generation Texan & I can tell you (unfortunately) Lone Star is not worth buying.

Bud Light.......... if you need a more Texan beer go for Shiner Bock not Lone-star

Go for the Lone Star. Tecate would be good also, but nothing would make a Texan prouder than to see cold Lone Stars set out on the table with good Tex-Mex.

Spottrd Cow or Naked Lady from NewGlarus Brewing Co., New Glarus, WI. The names may or maynot appeal to you but they are both EXCELLENT beers right now only at WI outlets but they are are building a new 19 M brewery in an attempt to keep up withe there sales. Call em and have some sent to you.

Lone Star beer. A Texan staple, but I have no idea what it tastes like. I'm not even sure if they still make it. Bud's a good neutral choice though.
